Phil's younger sister Sam, played by Kim Medcalfe, returned to our screens after six years away earlier this year and has cause plenty of drama since coming back.
Sam was originally played by Danniella Westbrook between 1990 and 2000, and for guest stints in 2009, 2010 and 2016.
However, Sam is now played once again by Kim, who portrayed the feisty Mitchell between 2002 and 2005.
Daily Star has taken a look into her life away from the spotlight.
Early years
Kim keeps her personal life entirely private.
The actress was pictured with husband Simon in 2013 at a Playhouse Theatre production in London, but has shared no further information about her relationship status or family life in recent years.
She studied law at Bristol University, before becoming an account manager selling soap powder for a pharmaceutical company.
However, the TV star was bitten by the acting bug and took a speech and drama course, landing her first acting job in August 2001, appearing in the musical One Touch of Venus.
Life after Sam
Since leaving EastEnders back in 2005, Kim focused on her stage career, appearing in stage versions of Margaret Atwood's novel The Penelopiad and South Pacific.
In 2006, she gave an acclaimed performance in Noel Coward's play Hay Fever, alongside Judi Dench.
Kim hosted the Mitchells Weekend on the UKTV Gold network the following year.
In 2008, Kim appeared in medical drama Harley Street, and then moved to Los Angeles in 2009 to further her career.
From 2011 to 2012, she performed in the West End stage production of Crazy For You as Irene Roth at Novello Theatre.
Back in 2018, Kim appeared in BBC Two crime drama Collateral, alongside Carey Mulligan, Nicola Walker, Jon Simm and Billie Piper.
Return to Walford
Kim has reportedly been in talks to reprise the role of Sam since last autumn, with the announcement of her official return being made earlier in February.
A thrilled Kim said at the time: "When the BBC approached me last year to reprise the role of Sam I was thrilled.
"She's a brilliant character and I can't wait to get back in the Square this spring and work with the amazing cast of both familiar and new faces."
Kate Oates, Head of Continuing Drama at the BBC, added: "The Mitchells are one of the most iconic families in soap, and I have long wanted to bring Sam back into the family fold."
EastEnders continues at 7.30pm Monday to Thursday on BBC One
