EastEnders star reveals Suki's terror as she sets out to save Vinny from Nish

Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) is set to face the wrath of dad Nish (Navin Chowdhry) in upcoming EastEnders episodes, much to Suki’s (Balvinder Sopal) horror.

In recent scenes, viewers have seen Nish belittle Vinny and question his business decisions, leaving him feeling upset.

In a future episode, Nish will further upset Vinny, leaving mum Suki to pick up the pieces and attempt to comfort him.

Actress Balvinder Sopal explained why Suki chooses to go against Nish and side with her son, saying: ‘I think it’s because she doesn’t want to see Nish do the same thing he’s doing to Suki to Vinny.’

Nish has proved to be very controlling of Suki since returning from prison last year, with characters like Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) pointing out the nasty way he speaks to her.

‘He’s belittling [Vinny] in front of people, showing favouritism in front of Ravi and pitting them off against each other, which can really diminish a person’s confidence’, Balvinder continued. ‘I think Suki can see that and she doesn’t want that happening to her child.

‘Vinny is her only child left living with them and the youngest, so she’s naturally protective over him.’

According to Balvinder, Suki recognises how the family dynamic has changed since Nish’s return, after spending 20 years behind bars, and is determined to protect Vinny from that.

‘There’s a whole load of lies and trauma that exists in that family and I think Suki is trying to put it right and do the right thing as she tries to move Vinny slowly away from Nish.

‘I think Vinny sees for himself how Nish has treated Suki since he’s been back and that’s not been nice for him to see. There’s been times where he’s taken his dad’s side and has been quite careless about his mum’s feelings but he’s been coerced and under the wing of his dad.

‘Suki is trying to protect him and pull him away from the bad energy and the toxicity that Nish has.’

With Vinny turning to his mum for comfort during Nish’s harsh treatment of him, will they end up cutting Nish out of their lives completely?
