EastEnders star Sam Womack gives update after operation for cancer treatment

EastEnders star Samantha Womack has shared an update on Instagram following the announcement that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in August.

The actress, who played Ronnie Mitchell in the BBC One soap, thanked fans and friends for sending their love after sharing her story, before giving an update on her recovery.

‘I’ve had my operation. I had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal, and I am now going to start my first session of chemotherapy tomorrow.’ She said in the video.

‘I have read all of your stories and messages. They’ve blown me away, genuinely.

‘I just wanted to say thank you, and I am very humbled by the fact that everyone has reached out.’

She ended the video by promising to keep her followers updated.

Her post received many supportive comments from fans, as well as fellow EastEnders cast members.

‘I wish you huge love for [tomorrow] on your chemotherapy. I’m sure there is some wonderful advice from those who have walked this path. You are a lovely human being much love and light’ commented Kacey Ainsworth, who played Little Mo in the BBC soap.

Mel Owen actress Tamzin Outhwaite said: ‘Oh darling. Sending you love , light and positive energy. You are so strong and I know you will override all your obstacles’, while ex Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou said: ‘Sending you so much love darling xxx’.
