Emmerdale fans were left completely taken aback watching Thursday’s (April 6) edition of the ITV soap, as it was revealed Caleb Milligan (William Ash) is Frank Tate’s son.

Not only that, but he is also Nicky’s (Lewis Cope) dad!

The twists started coming halfway through the instalment, as Caleb discovered Nicky was the person who had been stalking Leyla (Roxy Shahidi).

During their confrontation, Nicky called Caleb, dad, and referred to the fact he was trying to get enough money together and ensure his mum doesn’t become homeless.

As the episode drew to a close, Nicky and Caleb took a walk through the graveyard and stopped in front of one stone in particular.

After Caleb mentioned how long his dad had been under the gravestone, we saw a shot of Frank’s grave, allowing us to work out the connection.

Given that Frank was a Tate, it left many of us puzzled, as the newcomer arrived in the village claiming that Faith (Sally Dexter) was his mum so therefore, he must be a Dingle, right?

Well, yes…he’s both.

Because the bombshell was so unexpected, Emmerdale fans took to social media to express their confusion, hoping to find answers.

‘Caleb is a Tate what?! I’m so confused right now’, one user wrote.

So either Faith totally got with Frank Tate at some point or Caleb’s NOT actually who he claims to be after all? But how does he know so much about the first meeting with Cain? Unless Faith’s real lovechild is also involved somehow? Anyone else slightly confused? #Emmerdale 🤔

To make this a little easier, allow us to explain.

Frank and Faith are Caleb’s biological parents – which still makes him Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Cain’s (Jeff Hordley) brother.

Caleb grew up in care, which meant he didn’t know an awful lot about his real family – hence the reason why he’s in the Dales.

Because of that hugely memorable scene that saw Kim (Claire King) watch Frank die of a heart attack back in the 90s, we are left wondering just how much Caleb knows about his dad’s life at Home Farm, and how much his need for revenge will increase if he finds out Kim let his dad die…
