Emmerdale fans convinced Lydia Dingle's long lost son is still alive in game-changing maternity twist | The Sun

EMMERDALE fans are convinced that Lydia Dingle's stillborn child is alive – and closer than she thinks.

Fan-favourite Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) tragically lost her baby when she was just 15 – but some viewers think there could be a huge twist in store.

After the baby boy was tragically stillborn, Lydia fell pregnant by her husband Steve twice, neither of the babies made it to term.

But fans think Lydia might still be a mum in a twist where the baby did live after all and was perhaps found by a caring couple who took him to the hospital.

Fans also think the baby is Home Farm nanny Nicky (Lewis Cope).

Nicky has admitted he grew up with a lot of siblings, which suggests he could have been a foster child.

Vera shock as Emmerdale legend appears in tonight’s episode

Lydia is working as a cleaner at Home Farm, so it’s likely the pair will grow to know each other over the coming months.

Taking to Facebook, one fan wrote: “I was thinking [Nicky] could be Lydia’s son, maybe he didn’t die at birth.”

Another wrote: “Somebody said Lydia from Emmerdale could be Nicky’s mum, like her kid didn’t actually die at birth. I really want it to be true cause I love her and she deserves to be happy!”

A third penned: “Kerry kept Chloe a secret. Faith kept Caleb a secret. Very possible Nicky will end up being a secret baby given away.”

However, some fans are predicting a romantic storyline for the pair.

Nicky recently rejected Gabby after she tried to kiss him while she was tanked up on alcohol.

"It's not that I am not flattered, I just don't want to blur the lines," Nicky told a crestfallen Gabby.

"I like my job too much to lose it," Nicky explained as Gabby looked deflated.

Soon after Nicky ran into Lydia while she was cleaning and brought her laundry to Kim Tate's (Claire King) house where he works.

"I gave the fridge a clear out too, it's all out of date, you lot won't eat it but Sam and Samson will," Lydia told Nicky who seemed confused.

Nicky replied: "Launderette and takeaway, someone is filling their boots. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

Viewers found their exchange flirtatious, with some believing Nicky might make a move on Lydia in upcoming scenes.
