SOAP viewers have been accustomed to controversial storylines over the years.

However, Emmerdale fans predicted a sick incest story could be in the works and ferociously drew the line.

Will Ash made his debut in the ITV soap on Christmas Day and was introduced as Cain's long-lost half-brother, Caleb Milligan.

Social media users have since been wondering who he could strike up a romance with in the village.

One viewer set up a Twitter poll, asking: "Who will Caleb sleep with first?"

According to them, Caleb has four options – Cain's wife Moira, Bernice Blackstock, Charity Dingle… and his own half-sister, Chas.

Some fans of the Yorkshire-based drama are convinced they've picked up on a hint of chemistry between Caleb and Chas.

The Woolpack manager played by Lucy Pargeter thus received 30% of votes.

But fans are begging Emmerdale bosses to opt out of an incest storyline, believing they'd be going too far.

"Chas… and it's going to be so awkward, but [to be honest] Emmerdale hasn't done incest in a while", one of them commented.

"Chas is his sister so I hope the writers don't go there", a third penned.

One echoed: "It's a bit stupid but it's going to happen. Typical soap but who's stupid? Us for watching it."

Another decided to accept things as they could be: "Stranger things happen in Soapland."

One final soap fan recalled the Dingle clan members have a history of mingling with one another: "Chas and Caleb are half siblings but then they are Dingles so…"

On the other hand, Moira (Natalie J. Robb) earned 36% of votes, mostly due to her own past with infidelity.

Caleb first approached Chas when she was in the local graveyard, ready to light up Faith's firework.

Prior to their meeting, Chas had no idea Caleb even existed, although they share the same mother.

Chas has already been involved in a shocking affair after she took on Al Chapman as a lover.

The illicit romance had devastating consequences as it led to the businessman's death following a brawl with his nemesis, Cain Dingle.

Chas' affair was only recently exposed, leaving her family in shambles.

She was even shunned by members of the Dingle clan as they refused to forgive her actions.
