Emmerdale’s Bernice Blackstock finally said her goodbye to the famous village – and fans all had the same thing to say .

The character, played by Samantha Giles, has been a staple on the long-running show for over two decades – making her debut back in 1998. And it’s fair to say she’s become a firm favourite with viewers.

However, during Tuesday’s episode (November 14) Bernice exited the soap in emotional scenes. As fans will recall she’s recently run up debts and even took out a loan in her sister Nicola's name.

Things took a dramatic turn this week though, when her family found out what she had been getting up to. But in typical Bernice fashion, she went into hiding and tried to run away.

Nicola ended up stopping her and told her she was going to call the police unless she agreed to what she asked. Bernice then signed over her share of the B&B to her and was told to leave the village by Nicola.

Bernice agreed and told her family it was right to leave. She packed up her things and called a taxi, before saying her goodbyes.

Nicola came out to watch her leave but went back inside before Bernice got the chance to say goodbye. Bernice then jumped into the taxi ready to catch a flight abroad to Portugal.

However fans watching her exit were left stunned, and annoyed after spotting a major blunder. Plenty of viewers were confused as to how she could afford to start afresh.

Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “So how's she going to fund going away.” Someone else added: “Where’s Bernice getting the money to go to Portugal.”

A third proclaimed: “Emmerdale is so f****d! How did Bernice make things right? She's swanning off to f*****g Portugal leaving Nicola in debt!” Another added: "Hang on, if Bernice has got absolutely no money then how’s she jetting off abroad!?"
