Emmerdale's Rishi dead at bottom of the stairs

Emmerdale’s Laurel Thomas (played by Charlotte Bellamy) felt guilty about letting new husband Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) travel to India for his father’s funeral alone.

She decided the family should join him and went to Marshall Hamston’s house to retrieve his passport but was locked in by his homophobic father Colin (Mark Noble).

Laurel didn’t have her phone and was seen desperately trying to get out of the house with no luck.

Colin’s unstable after his son moved out and decided to leave the village to live with his aunt.

In coming episodes, Laurel’s friends and family will become increasingly concerned for her wellbeing and her whereabouts.

Colin will use their concern to his advantage, sending texts to imply she has relapsed.

As it’s yet to be revealed what Colin has planned for Laurel, some ITV viewers believe she’s in danger and could even be murdered.

One fan posted on Twitter: “Laurel is going to die, I can just tell her time is up.”

Another added: “…and just when you think Laurel had a wee bit of sense, she manages to get herself padlocked in Marshall’s room #Emmerdale.”

Someone else guessed: “So I’m guessing that Colin is going to leave poor Laurel trapped in Marshall’s old room for a wee while, and nobody will realise that she’s missing/been kidnapped by crazy Col, until Jai comes back from the funeral in India and she’s not with him then?! #Emmerdale.”

Another theorised: “LAUREL!!!!! What a horrible situation she’s landed in.”

Could this be the end for Laurel Thomas and what will Jai do when he discovers his new wife is in trouble and he can’t do anything to help?

Laurel and Jai haven’t had the best start to their marriage as just after their nuptials, they learned Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) had died.

Jai and Rishi had argued over his paternity but with the former deciding to bury the hatchet, he hoped his dad would attend the wedding and even delivered a heartfelt speech.

Just hours later, Jai discovered Rishi lying at the bottom of the stairs following a fatal fall.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.
