Emmerdale: Cain talks to Chas in prison

Emmerdale bad boy Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) is currently serving a prison sentence for killing Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) – a crime he did not commit. However, the mechanic is hellbent on covering for his son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn), who is guilty of shooting Al. In upcoming scenes, Cain will be haunted by his past after his half-brother, Caleb (Will Ash) visits him in prison on Christmas Day.

Cain doesn’t trust Caleb, especially after he’d told him their mother Faith (Sally Dexter) had died 30 years ago.

Although, Caleb only recently discovered that Cain had lied to him all this time.

Discussing his storyline and whether Caleb is out to get revenge on Cain, Will told Express.co.uk and other press: “He comes in having this really kind of dark and tortured backstory of having been put to care as a child.

“And so when he was 16, he found Cain and tries to reconnect with his family and he’s told by Cain his mum is dead and to steer clear of the family.

“So he comes into it with a lot of bitterness and a lot of anger.”

He later continued: “Initially, when he comes in, even though he’s got an axe to grind with him, he wants to connect with his family.

“To connect with Cain and with Chas, he wants to have a relationship even though there is a kind of simmering resentment and bitterness.”

Despite wanting to reconnect with Cain and Chas (Lucy Pargeter), the mechanic warns his sibling to stay away from his family.

However, Caleb ignores Cain’s plea and ends up coming clean to Chas.

When the newcomer realises everything the Dingle family are going through, he tries to help them.

But, with revenge in his mind, could the newcomer end up double-crossing the Dingle clan just to get back at his brother?

Speaking about how Caleb comes across, the actor explained: “He’s very, very kind of charming and open and wanting to just make a connection with his family because they’re going through quite a lot.

“He comes in and kind of really helps them deal with all that they’re dealing with.

“But you can’t help but think there is something else going on.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7pm on ITV.
