It’s not all glamour starring in one of the nation’s top soaps – just ask Emmerdale star Samantha Giles, who plays Bernice Blackstock, the new co-owner of the B&B.

It wasn’t a straightforward route to getting their hands on the coveted business for Bernice and Bob (Tony Audenshaw), though – they faced stiff competition from Bernice’s sister Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and her husband Jimmy (Nick Miles), who offered Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) the asking price and apparently whisked the deal away from them at the last minute.

Bernice was understandably fuming at what she saw as a betrayal by her sister, who’d known how much this fresh start meant to Bernice who’s been struggling lately with the menopause and had lost her job at the salon.

‘You haven’t got the imagination to have your own dreams so you steal everyone else’s,’ she told her sister as she and Bob saw Nicola and Jimmy leaving the B&B.

Fans also loved the scene, with one branding it the ‘funniest thing in Emmerdale for years.’

There was also approval of the outcome. ‘At least B&B won the B&B!’ said a fan, looking forward to Bernice and Bob’s ambitious plans to turn the new business into the premier hospitality destination in the Dales.
