Emmerdale star Emma Atkins has been speaking about Charity Dingle’s involvement in this year’s Super Soap Week.
Thanks to past Super Soap Weeks, we know this year’s one will feature huge stunts and dramatic scenes. Back in 2021, the week focused on a survival challenge that included characters falling from a broken bridge, and Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) murdering Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale).
This year, Charity, Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) and Chloe (Jessie Elland) are all set to be heavily involved.
Previously released images have shown the moment Charity and Mack watch in horror as a car tumbles down a cliff, with Chloe supposedly trapped inside.
Lives will no doubt change forever and for Emma Atkins, she absolutely loved filming the major scenes:
‘I normally don’t get to do Super Soap!’, she told us at the CUREUsher charity ball.
‘I haven’t done it for a few years so this one, for me, is mega. I’m like a kid, ringing my mum everyday telling her what we got up to! I was in a gimble which is a big car attached to a giant hamster wheel where I was being spun, I would get home and tell Albert all about that. I think, with Matt Hilton, our director, we’ve pulled it off brilliantly.’
The CUREUsher ball was set up by the charity as well as Emmerdale’s Mark Jordon and Laura Norton. The couple have two children who both have Usher Syndrome, the rare genetic condition that affects both hearing and vision.
Continuing the chat, Emma also reflected on Charity’s relationship with Vanessa.
Michelle Hardwick will soon return to her role as Vanessa after time away for maternity leave, but what could lie ahead for the popular characters?
‘I think, you’ve got to admit, there was a real spark and connection there’, Emma said.
‘They both found each other so it was a beautiful coupling. Who knows…they’ll revisit it in some shape or form I’m sure, whether it’s on the peripheral or whether they go for the jugular, there’s bound to be some element of conflict or connection of some kind, but to my knowledge, nothing at the moment.’
