Former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has claimed he is taking part in the forthcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 33-year-old actor played Adam Barton on the ITV soap from 2009 – 2018.

His character fled the Dales after falsely confessing to the murder of Emma Barton while covering for his mother Moira (Natalie J Robb).

Speaking recently, Adam seemed to confirm he would feature in the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 celebrity line-up, though his involvement in the new series has yet to be confirmed by BBC bosses.

Adam told Mail Online: "Bring it all on I love a bit of glitz and glam."

The actor also joked about wanting to 'experience the Strictly curse', while downplaying his natural dancing ability.

He added: "I'm not the best dancer in the world, I wish, though once I've had a drink, I do believe I'm the best dancer in the world.

"Sober it is a completely different story.

"I have never won anything in my life so it would be nice but I'm not necessarily competitive.

"I try to do my best in anything I sign up to but as cheesy and cliché as it sounds it's about the journey and experience you go through."

The comments follow Adam recently reprising his role as the lovable rogue Donte Charles in the forthcoming Waterloo Road reboot.

Last month, the dad-of-two teased fans by sharing a backstage picture of himself on set of the hit show's revival – which will also feature Adam's fellow returning co-stars Angela Griffin and Kate Griffiths.

In his personal life, Adam has been married to his long-term partner Caroline Daly since 2017.

The loved-up couple dated for nine years prior to their wedding and share two children.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One this Autumn.
