Emmerdale’s Dingle family hit with devastating news as two members leave

Lydia tells Craig to leave her alone and Mandy over hears

On the latest instalment of Emmerdale, the Dingle family experienced some unexpected news.

During Thursday’s episode of the ITV soap, Mandy Dingle (played by Lisa Riley) received a phone call from Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) to let her and the rest of the family know that one of their uncles had died earlier that week.

After hanging up with Zak, Mandy announced the news to Sam Dingle (James Hotton), Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), to which Sam responded: “I thought he died years ago.”

Up until now the Dingles had thought that their uncle had died many years ago.

So they were stunned to find out that not only had they been alive and well until very recently but that he had now passed away.

Mandy outlined: “I didn’t even know him! Apparently he’d been banished from the family in the nineties.”

Zak couldn’t remember the exact reason why he had been excommunicated from the Dingle clan.

However, their cousin Drisella had kept in touch with him “on the sly”.

Mandy continued: “Anyway, she needs help cleaning the house and she wondered if we could give her a hand. Any volunteers?”

Paddy responded: “Don’t look at me. I’m pulling out the ‘not a proper Dingle’ card.”

She then turned her attention to Sam, who initially said that he had to get to work. But later on it was decided that Sam and Mandy’s son Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) would be making the trip to Ireland to see what they could find in their late uncle’s home.

With Zak being convinced that there could be a “fortune to be made” because their late relative was a hoarder, Vinny joked that it would be like a “business trip” for the pair.

Mandy even proposed that their uncle might have stashed some money around his house and insisted that they pack the van full of everything they are able to get their hands on, before taking it to get valued. That’s if their cousin hadn’t already taken the most valuable items before they get there.

This isn’t the first death to rock the village of Emmerdale in recent months, even if it did take place off-screen.

Just last month there was the sudden death of Victor Anderson (Eddie Osei). And before that fan favourite Rishi Sharma (Bhsker Patel) was found dead at the bottom of the stairs by his son Jai (Chris Bisson).

Fans will need to tune in to see if there are any more surprising deaths to come in the Dales.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
