It looks like things could take a wild turn for Lydia Dingle on Emmerdale.

The show alum, played by Karen Blick, had a blast from the past this week when she bumped into Craig Reed (Ben Addis).

The pair, who knew each other from the children’s home, reconnected during a recruitment fair being held at The Hide.

As viewers will remember, Lydia was born as Jenny Finn and was placed into a children’s home and when she was 15 she became pregnant.

Sadly, she gave birth to a stillborn baby and buried him in the woodland – before later going missing and changing her name to Lydia.

Having not seen her since the children’s home, Craig’s delighted to have found Lydia again – but he had the shock of his life when she revealed it was his son she gave birth to.

So, with Lydia’s past coming back to haunt her, Daily Star has taken a look through some of the theories on what could happen to her next.

Lydia and beau Sam Dingle (James Hooton) have been hit with money issues as of late – putting on a strain on the couple’s relationship.

In search of a second job, Lydia headed to a recruitment fair where she came across her former flame Craig.

Lydia's husband Sam Dingle (James Hutton) was left gobsmacked when he returned home and found his wife catching up with Craig.

He was left even more gutted when he learned it wasn't the first time Lydia and Craig had seen each other.

Given the pair’s history, fans naturally have shared their concern that Lydia could embark on an affair with Craig.

“Lydia is going to sh*g Craig money on,” said one person on X, while someone else mused: “New love triangle Lydia, Sam and Craig.”

On Facebook, a third quipped: “Hope he doesn't split her and Sam up. I bet he is the boss of that carry on and gives her the chance of a great job, but will cause conflict with her and Sam.”

Back on X, formerly known as Twitter, a fourth viewer said: “If they break up Sam and Lydia for this guy I will be raging.”

Another quipped: “How long before Lydia is having an affair?”

When Craig arrived on the show, it seemed he might have rubbed viewers up the wrong way when he tracked Lydia down to her home to make contact again.

He even admitted he had taken Lydia’s address from her CV, and knew it was a serious data breach in a bid to reconnect with his first love.

After watching him attempt to rekindle things with Lydia, plenty rushed to X to share their thoughts on how “creepy” he is acting.

Some viewers also reckon a sinister twist could be in store for Lydia.

“My crystal ball is telling me Craig turns out to be another nutter,” said one viewer, while someone else quipped: “This Craig guy seems like a right creepy weirdo.”

A third proclaimed: “Oh, oh. Watch yourself, Lydia. He looks like the Yorkshire Ripper to me.”

Echoing their thoughts, another worried fan added: “I don't trust Craig at all.”

A fifth said: “This guy is love bombing, will soon make up a reason to make him dependent on Lydia’s friendship & slowly start controlling her…. Tale As Old As Time.”
