Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) is still covering for his 10-year-old son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) who shot Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) when he witnessed their fight on Emmerdale. Cain’s partner Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) is desperate to protect Kyle as is his mother Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson). Will they live to regret letting him out of their sight in scenes yet to air?

ITV soap spoilers have revealed Moira and Amy discuss bringing Kyle and Isaac Dingle (Bobby Dunsmuir) to a Christmas choir event as Amy is concerned about letting the boy out of her sight.

At the village hall, an anxious Moira and Amy arrive but Kyle and Isaac soon get into the festive spirit.

However, the women end up losing sight of Kyle and catch him speaking to PC Mike Swirling (Andy Moore) about Cain.

Kyle has been struggling with his guilt as he knows his father faces life behind bars for a murder he committed.

Horrified, Moira and Amy swoop in before anything is revealed to the constable.

But PC Swirling is left suspicious of the pair and appears troubled by their behaviour.

When they return home after the Christmas event, Amy and Moira try to find out what Kyle revealed to the officer, but they only end up upsetting him.

Have they made Kyle close up completely by pressing him for information?

Later on, Moira tries to reassure Amy that if she gives Kyle an amazing Christmas it will help life return to normal for everyone.

But as Amy struggles to pull herself together over the situation, the pressure also begins to mount on Moira.

How long will it take before Moira cracks under too much stress?

Will she end up reporting Kyle to the police in a desperate bid to clear her conscience?

Emmerdale producer Jane Hudson recently spoke to Express.co.uk and other publications about Cain’s future.

She shared: “Poor Cain is still in prison. He will get a visit from his brother on Christmas Day called Caleb – played by Will Ash.”

Cain actor Jeff added: “Initially, I’ll be honest I thought, ‘They’re bringing in a younger Dingle, what are they doing that for? Are they trying to replace me?’

“Because you always get a little bit protective about your character when they bring in a similar character.

“But then when I found out it was Will, I thought, ‘This is the best thing that could have happened.'”

He cryptically said: “Cain does have a connection with him. He doesn’t like it but you can see that he also finds something he wants to connect with.”

When Caleb arrives in the village, viewers will watch a flashback episode showing the moment he and Cain were first introduced as children.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
