Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy has received support from fans online after posting a touching tribute to his grandmother, who sadly passed away.

The actor, who is best known to soap fans as Luke Morgan, took to Instagram to share an emotional video in tribute to his Nanny Lily.

The video was set to the song Visiting Hours by Ed Sheeran, and included photos of Gary alongside his Nanny.

‘Finally My Nanny Lily is at peace,’ he wrote beneath the post.

‘Simply put …. Thank you for sharing your wisdom , fun and Laughter … loved you then love you now and always will,’ He said, adding a love heart.

‘A special shout out to all my extended family (army) in Ireland for helping make what is normally such a sad occasion into one filled with wonderful memories.’

Gary’s fans rushed to the comments to give offer their support and condolences, with one saying, ‘I am so sorry for your loss.’

‘Thinking of you all,’ another said, while a third added, ‘Sorry for your loss. Sending love & hugs.’

It was recently announced that Gary is returning to Hollyoaks, despite the fact that character Luke was killed off last year.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Gary revealed that the decision to return was an easy one to make.

‘It was a no brainer. I got a call from Peter Hunt in casting – the wonderful Peter, Hunt, he’s amazing. I have so much respect for him on a professional level but he’s also a really good friend. He called my agent and said: “How would you feel about coming back for a few episodes? We’ve got this idea that ties to Cindy’s storyline”.

I said: “Absolutely. If we can make it work, I’d love to!” To have an opportunity to come and see everyone and have a great time with them – it is like a home from home up there. They made it work, and it was lovely to catch up with everyone and give everyone a cuddle – to get a bit of attention and love and then back out the door again! [laughs].’

Following this short stint, he also has some other work in the pipeline, though he couldn’t give much away.

‘I’m in the middle of filming something at the minute. I can’t say what it is. I’m in the middle of it, but it’s really lovely because its based around kids – and now I’m old and grey!’
