Grand Designs viewers were gobsmacked at this week's guests' huge spend on a "longhouse" – which ended up looking like a "huge shed in the middle of nowhere".
Mike and Sarah faced a string of challenges when they set about building a house in Derbyshire for generations to come.
With an initial budget of £945,000, the couple wanted to transform an 18.5 acre "barn" into a family home with a farm and a garden.

Mike, who works as a managing director of a medical tech company, were keen to build a "21st century interpretation of a Derbyshire longhouse".
Since the project began in November 2020, there were problems installing the roof, which mimicked the shape of the valley in triangular shapes.
They also faced a shortage of building materials such as aluminium and ran over-budget in excess of £225,000.
In the new series of Grand Designs, host Kevin McCloud was invited to see the finished look of the massive house.
And viewers were disappointed to see the result.
"£1.2 million to live in a huge shed in the middle of nowhere," one tweeted.
A second wrote: "This is the worst ever build I’ve seen on #granddesigns. You’ve tried to build a house and ended up with a commercial building. Horrid."
"A million quid to live in a replica of the bathstore section of Homebase," a third added while a fourth compared the house to a "supermax prison".
But, thankfully, Mike and Sarah were overjoyed by their new property.
Kevin asked Mike and Sarah at the end of the episode: "Is this what you wanted?"
Mike said: "Yes, to be honest with you, it's beyond my wildest dreams.
"It's absolutely glorious, I think we've probably had the best night's sleep we've had for ages, and you wake up, the views are just breathtaking."
"Yes, we are really pleased with it," Sarah added.
