Greg is the mastermind behind the new BBC comedy series, The Cleaner, which stars an A-list cast including Helena Bonham Carter, David Mitchell and Stephanie Cole. The comedian has been involved in the series, both in front of the camera as protagonist Paul Wickstead and also behind the scenes. He is known for being extremely tall in all his roles on TV and here is everything you need to know about Greg’s height.
What is Greg Davies’ comedy The Cleaner about?
Height doesn’t come into question with regards to the role Greg’s character Paul holds; a crime-scene cleaner who removes any signs of death.
The Cleaner meets interesting and unique characters carrying out his duties but his sociable ways mean he sometimes struggles to get the job done.
This isn’t the first comedy of its kind as it is loosely based around the German television show Der Tatortreiniger, which translates as Crime Scene Cleaner.
Each episode is titled in reference to the person The Cleaner ends up talking to in the 30-minute instalment.
The Widow, The Writer and The Neighbour are the first three chapters in the six-part series, airing on BBC One over the next month.
How tall is The Cleaner star Greg Davies?
Viewers will notice a stark difference in how tall Greg is compared to his co-stars as he stands at more than two metres tall.
This equates to him being six foot, eight inches tall and with size 13 feet, he is one of the tallest celebrities to appear on television.
The 53-year-old made a slight reference to his stature when the BBC released a statement on his behalf about the show.
Greg said: “I’m thrilled that this remarkable collection of actors has agreed to appear next to me on screen. Scrubbing up blood in a hazmat suit in front of them will be a pleasure.”
Tall shouty man
Before starring in The Cleaner, Greg was a host of Channel 4 game show Taskmaster, with comedian Alex Horne presenting alongside him.
Alex spoke about why he wanted the former Inbetweeners star to be his co-host and it seems his height was a big attribute.
“Well, I would challenge you to name anyone else who could do that job. He had all the elements that role needed, as well as being very funny and good off the cuff,” he said.
“I’d say his physical attributes lend itself to the role, but also the headmasterly qualities,” he remarked in reference to his height.
Greg replied in an interview with Channel 4: “I’ve basically spent the majority of my adult life pretending to have authority.
“I certainly was like that in the sketch group I was in and on stage, I tend to turn the volume up on everything I do.
“So, some bombastic tall shouty man setting tasks seemed like a very natural fit,” the comedian and writer quipped.
The former Inbetweeners star has also spoken out about the size of his feet in the past, stating he was “mystified” by how big they grew compared to who was writing about them online.
The comedian explained: “They’ve gone from a size 13 to a 17. I think I’d be a human right angle if that were the case.
“I’m just sort of slightly mystified as to their motivation! And why somebody is changing the size of my feet online is just one of those mysteries.
“But it really explains the amount of times a journalist has said I’ve got size 17 feet and you think, ‘You’ve just looked at my Wikipedia page before this interview’,” he told RadioTimes.com.
The Cleaner concludes on October 15, 2021, with the third episode of the series airing tonight.
The Cleaner airs Fridays at 9:30pm on BBC One.
