Announcement trailer for Harry Potter Max original series

It’s been 22 years since the first Harry Potter movie hit cinemas and was followed by a whopping seven sequels.

Following the release of Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2011, Warner Bros and JK Rowling teamed up on three Fantastic Beasts spin-off prequels.

Yet now the focus has returned to the original source material with the studio announcing earlier this year that a TV adaptation of the books is in the works.

Presumably, this means a retelling of the seven Harry Potter novels across a season for each book, with an all-new cast.

Yet how different will it be? Producer David Heyman has spoken out in a new interview.

Heyman told Total Film: “[On Harry Potter] It’s early days. We haven’t even hired a writer to begin writing.

“It’s a bit early. But hopefully [it will be] something that’s very special, and gives us an opportunity to see the books, and to enjoy a series which explores the books more deeply.”

By the sounds of it, the TV reboot will have the time to include aspects of the novels that didn’t make it into the movies.

Presumably, this would include the likes of Hermione’s S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) and other side narratives.

Warner Bros are planning on the series lasting 10 years and for it to stream on Max, which we don’t have in the UK but its content mostly appears on NOW.

Rowling herself said of the upcoming Harry Potter series: “Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series.”
