Strictly: Helen cries as she says she's a 'different person'

The remaining seven celebrities in Strictly are improving every week and last weekend, it was presenter Helen Skelton’s turn to step up to the plate. She wowed the crowd at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom with her and Gorka Marquez’s Quickstep to Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse’s Valerie. While discussing what happened on Saturday night, Helen was struggling to fight back her tears. 

Helen Skelton and partner Gorka Marquez impressed the judges and the live audience alike with their astounding Quickstep. 

So much so, that they received a standing ovation and a whopping 39 points from the judges, leaving the 39-year-old speechless. 

Before getting down to training for Week 10, Helen reflected on the events of last week. 

She explained to the cameras how it was a moment that she was never going to forget. 

“Last Saturday night was my favourite night of Strictly so far”, Helen said. 

“The outfit, the dance, the dancers, everything just came together.

“The reaction was one of those moments that I’ll never forget.

“The best reaction was from my dad, he was so happy and so proud and he just looked at me like ‘Oh you seem like you again!’

But it was when Helen was in the training room with her dance partner Gorka Marquez that she broke down. 

She said: “I definitely am a different person from when I first started and I think for me, what’s been…”

Helen went on to apologise as she started crying, with Gorka comforting her. 

“I think even you would say I’m a different person from day one, right?”

“I just thought it was dancing, it’s so much more than that.”
