Five years after Yellowstone first graced screens on the Paramount Network, Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western debuted on network television in 2023.

The show is going to be airing on CBS as the network covers gaps in its schedule caused by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have crippled productions across Hollywood.

CBS started airing Yellowstone right from the beginning last week with episode one hitting screens on Sunday, September 18 at 8.30pm EST.

This week, fans will be treated episode two called Kill the Messenger which sees patriarch and ranch owner John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) collect an old debt.

Meanwhile, his son Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) will be considering his future on the ranch.

Viewers will also be getting to watch episode three called No Good Horses.

The instalment serves as a throwback to the past and sheds light on the troubled Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her fear of horses and family tragedy involving her mother.

However, Yellowstone will be returning to its Sunday night slot on October 1 with another double bill starting at 8pm EST and finishing at 10pm EST.

The next double bill will consist of episodes four – The Long Black Train – and five – Coming Home.

Yellowstone will continue to air on CBS until a resolution can be found between the various parties.

This sadly also means season five, part two won’t be airing for some time with work on hold on the remaining episodes – which mark the last ones for the show after it was announced Yellowstone would be ending.

The reruns have received a mixed reaction from fans with many hitting out at the show being “watered down” due to edits made by CBS so it complies with network television rules.

Viewers familiar with Yellowstone will notice the profanity, nudity, violence and sexual content will have been toned down to meet the guidelines.

Additionally, the runtime has had to be changed to factor in commercial breaks which aren’t an issue on streaming platforms who get their revenue from subscribers.

Others have also been asking for lead and producer Costner to make a return after his divorce from wife Christine Baumgartner was finalised this week.
