Hollyoaks favourite Matthew James Bailey is best known for playing Ethan Williams since 2021.
Over the past two years, the character has been involved in murder plots, love triangles and family drama. Ethan went from trying to murder Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) to getting in a relationship with her but it's not the only charatcer the actor has played on the Channel 4 soap.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Matthew recalled: "I played a character called Jake, who again was a bit of a troublemaker; he came in and stole some laptops from under the McQueens' noses. That was back in 2016, and clearly I made an impression as a not-very-nice guy, because they asked me back!"

It comes after Matthew told Daily Star that he originally tried out for the part of Sam Chen-Williams, Ethan's police officer nephew, played by Matthew McGivern. He explained: "I originally auditioned for Sam. I think they saw that in the screen test so then they said why don't i go for Ethan, the uncle.
"At first I was like 'I’m a bit young to be an uncle' but they said he was a cool uncle. It's so exiting and the way Ethan played out is incredible." Fans are set to see a lot more of Matthew as Ethan over the festive period as the love triangle with Sienna and Lord Rafe Harcourt (Chris Gordon) takes a dramatic turn.
Things are looking up for Sienna when she is greeted with two marriage proposals in upcoming scenes. She will ultimately pick Rafe as her husband-to-be, leaving Ethan heartbroken. However, new footage in the trailer shows that Rafe and his "sister" Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith) have been lying about their true identities all along, and are actually married. "Stick to the plan and make Sienna my wife," Rafe can be heard saying to Dilly.

She then replies: "My handsome husband" – before they share a kiss. The winter trailer also confirms that Camilla is not who she says she is either, as we see her true accent. Rafe and Dilly have been paying her to act the part of Camilla Bassington-Hart (Dylan Morris), in another of Dilly's wicked plans. What will all this mean for Sienna and Ethan?
