Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) is on cloud nine in Hollyoaks as he gets into the carnival spirit, preparing to meet James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) for a date.

The eponymous village is riddled with delight, as residents enjoy the carnival courtesy of Tony and Diane Hutchinson (Nick Pickard and Alex Fletcher).

Ste, meanwhile, is eager to get in on all the festivities, and he even gets into the spirit of things, dressing up as a clown ahead of his date with James.

The popular character, as viewers know, refused to give former lover James another chance after he messed up all of his previous ones.

James, however, resolved to turn over a new leaf and made great strides to prove he was serious this time as he reported Norma Crow (Glynis Barber) to the police.

The lawyer is left delighted in Tuesday’s (September 27) first look E4 offering of the serial drama, after Verity Hutchinson (Eva O’Hara) agrees to give him his job back in exchange for him manning the hook-a-duck stall at the carnival.

With luck seemingly in his favour, James decides to make it his mission to win back Ste, and judging by the above preview clip – taken from the episode in question – he suceeds, as Ste agrees to a date.

Ste, complete in clown get-up, takes great joy in discussing the possibility of a fresh start with James, as he fills Verity in on how ‘weird’ James is.

Will he and James manage to give things a proper shot?

The course of true love never did run smooth, especially in soap-land, so no is your answer – and all we can tell you is that things don’t exactly go to plan.

Given that Norma has made it her mission to dispose of James, having learned of his double-crossing from dodgy copper DS Amaral (Melissa Batchelor), it’s likely that she will have some involvement in what transpires.

Hollyoaks continues its huge stunt week tonight at 7pm on E4 – watch every night this week, or stream first from midnight on All4.
