‘House of the Dragon’ Ep. 7 Preview: Stolen Vhagar, Highest Treason

In a preview for ‘Driftmark’, the tension between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower significantly escalates as someone apparently commits ‘the highest of treason.’

AceShowbiz -Now that the main characters of “House of the Dragon” are all grown up, the real war over the throne has really started. In a preview for upcoming episode 7, which is titled “Driftmark”, the tension between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower significantly escalates as someone apparently commits “the highest of treason.”

The promo opens with the characters gathering for a funeral ceremony with Corlys Velaryon saying in voiceover, “What is this mortal life if not the pursuit of legacy?” Meanwhile, Otto Hightower announces, “We play an ugly game.”

Elsewhere in the trailer, Prince Daemon seemingly shares advice to Rhaenyra as saying, “If you are to be a strong queen, your subjects must fear you.” As a dragon roars, Rhaenyra notes, “Fire is a strange power. Everything that House Targaryen possesses is owed to it.”

The promo also reveals that Vhagar, a she-dragon that is ridden by Rhaenyra, is stolen. Later, Rhaenyra is seen accusing someone of committing “the highest of a treason.”

Rhaenyra and Alicent are also featured in an altercation with the Queen trying to stab Rhaenyra with a knife. Holding the knife with her bloody hand, Rhaenyra tells her former best friend, “Now they see you as you are.”

Meanwhile, in episode 6 of “House of the Dragon”, Rhaenyra gave birth to a son, who marks her and husband Laenor Velaryon’s third son. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra and Laenor’s older sons went through training in the dragonpit with Viserys and Alicent’s sons Aegon and Aemond. Aemon was mocked as he was the only one without a dragon. So, after they left, he sneaked out to go down into the warren where the dragons live and almost gets flambeed for his troubles.

Alicent then asked Viserys to do something about Rhaenyra’s sons. She also went to Aegon, who was caught masturbating, to ask him to be nicer towards his brother. She also reminded him that everyone except for Rhaenyra thought he’s the successor to the throne.

Daemon’s wife Laena Velaryon also went into labor in Pentos. Unfortunately, things went badly and it was revealed that neither she nor the baby was going to make it. She then limped down to where the dragons were kept and ordered the dragon to burn her alive as she said, “Dracarys!” When Daemon found her just as the dragon did as ordered, he had an unreadable expression in his face.

Later during a small council meeting, Rhaenyra, who had been dealing with a very sore chest due to nursing woes, said, “I have felt the strife between our families of late, my queen, and for any offense given by mine, I apologize. But we are one house, and long before that, we were friends.” She also proposed betrothing her son Jace to Alicent and Viserys’ daughter Helaena. However, the moment was interrupted as the princess’ breasts started visibly leaking through her dress.

At the dungeon, Ser Harwin Strong, who was rumored to be the real father of Rhaennyra’s three children, bid his farewell to Rhaenyra. Jace then asked his mom if Breakbones was his dad and the princess told him that he and his brothers are Targaryens, and that’s that.

The episode also saw Alicent venting her frustration with Rhaenyra and Viserys to Ser Larys, Lord Lyonel’s club-footed son. She also complained about Lord Lyonel. Upon hearing that, Larys did something unexpected to help his friend. He sent an army to burn down Harrenhal with his father, brother as well as Harwin inside.
