Rhys Ifans reveals he was not part of any sex scenes in the Game of Thrones prequel series.

The actor has been cast in the much anticipated spin-off, House of the Dragon as Ser Otto Hightower, the bitter political rival of Prince Daemon Targaryen, the heir presumptive to the Iron Throne played by Matt Smith.

But despite the series’ raunchy reputation, the 55-year-old actor revealed to the Daily Star at the London Premiere of the series that not only did he not take part in any nude scenes, but that he feels he is “past it” as an actor.

The Notting Hill actor joked: “No shagging for me!”

He added: “I'm a bit past it. I think my character would have a heart attack if he shagged anyone!”

Game of Thrones first came onto screens in 2011, lasting for eight series until 2019. It received critical acclaim, getting nominated for 59 Primetime Emmy Awards and 5 Golden Globe nominations.

The series also developed one of the most dedicated fanbases in the world, but a lot of fans were unhappy with the creative direction of the final season as well as the length.

However he told BBC Radio London's Behind The Scene with Alice Dale that he was not intimidated by the critical and dedicated fanbase.

When asked if he felt pressure from fans, he answered: “No, no, not at all. No, I just felt the only pressure was to work to the best of my abilities with this with this extraordinary cast of actors.”

He continued: “I think there might be pressure on, you know, the creators possibly, you know, I mean, there is a lot of pressure because it's got to be good”.

Rhys added: “[You] just gotta wait and see, you know, whether people embrace it or not, I think they will.”
