I’m A Celeb hit by Covid outbreak just days before ITV shows finale

I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is reported to have been hit by a Covid outbreak just days before Sunday night's final, which will see one of the remaining celebs crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.

ITV bosses are said to have ramped up precautionary measures, including staff members wearing masks around the camp at all times, after two members of staff tested positive for the virus earlier this week.

A tent where hot drinks and snacks were sold to those working onsite is said to have been shut down overnight so it could be disinfected, in an attempt to prevent any further outbreaks.

A inside source told The Sun: "Everyone is on high alert given it is so close to the end of the series.

“The producers have grand plans to make the final bigger than ever so no one is seen without a mask and there have been loads more people queueing up to get themselves tested on site.

“The team also closed down the night shift tent which sells snacks and drinks to the crew in order to give it a deep clean.

“Safety is paramount on a show of this scale and bosses are sure that the strict measures they have in place will mean that the final will still go ahead as planned.”

A spokesperson for ITV has told OK!: “We can confirm a couple of production team members have tested positive for coronavirus. The protocols we have in place for such an eventuality have been implemented and filming has continued as we adhere to all covid guidelines."

The spokesperson added: "We have stringent measures in place across site, safety is paramount on the show" and the that the final will not be affected by these concerns.

Sunday night's final will see one of the remaining celebs crowned winner, and while the odds are ever changing, the majority of bookies currently have either footballer Jill Scott or Hollyoaks star Owen Warner as the favourite to win.

Earlier this week, a number of fans took to social media, calling for Owen to win the show, with one writing: "Owen to be crowned King of the Jungle”.

A second commented: “Can we crown Owen the king of the jungle already?"

“Really hope Owen wins I’m a celeb. I’ve voted for him every night,” a third fan said.

Another exclaimed: “OWEN WARNER YOU ARE MY WINNER #ImACeleb”, while someone else added: “Owen for the win surely”.

And despite being the subject of over 3,000 complaints to Ofcom, controversial campmate Matt Hancock still stands a chance of winning the show, having made it through the nightly evictions so far.
