I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has celebrated some of the finest moments in reality series for 20 years. This year may have seen a more harmonious camp than usual, but there has been a huge amount of drama on the ITV show too. Express.co.uk’s takes a look at the top five disasters on ITV.
5. Sausage Rebellion
In 2003, the TV chef Anthony Worral-Thompson took umbrage at the portion of sausage presented to the celebrities.
His campmates revolted against the reality show’s producers and criticised the size of the meat offered to them.
The celebrities were provided with one sausage and threatened to leave the jungle if their wishes were not met.
An irate Anthony announced: “I’m a celebrity… get me out of here and we will all go. We are all going to go together.”

4. Rat-Gate
Another TV chef caused controversy when Gino D’Acampo hunted down and killed a rat to feed the camp.
He cooked the rodent during his spell Down Under in 2009 and producers of the show were slammed by many viewers.
The network issued an apology, but the decision not to step in was criticised by the Australian RSPCA.
However, Gino was nonplussed and at the time said: “You start to fry everything together so the flavour of the rat gets into the beans, absolutely fantastico!”
3. Storm Arwen
Due to the pandemic last year, the show was moved from its usual spot in Australia.
Filming for a special edition took place in Castle Gwrych in Wales, but contestants were removed from the set due to adverse weather.
Storm Arwen tore through the UK and the set of the reality show.
The launch show was even postponed as the production team dealt with the catastrophic conditions.
2. Gemma Collins’ tantrums
The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins is famed for her iconic one-liners and dramatic reactions.
She lived up to the hype in 2019 when she was in the jungle and treated viewers to some iconic rants.
In the first episode, she broke down in tears in the helicopter taking her into camp.
At the time she said: “People that murder get treated better than this, that’s the truth. Even murderers get fed three times a day.”
1. Gillian McKeith fainting
One of the most iconic moments in British television history took place on the ITV show in 2010.
Just as she was selected to take part in a Bushtucker Trial, the nutritionist took a momentary turn for the worse.
The TV presenter was asked by Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly to step forward and then duly fainted.
However, Gillian has since told Alison Hammond the dramatic fall was staged for the cameras.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs daily from 9pm on ITV.
