It’s been over 40 years since his debut in Raiders of the Lost Ark and now Harrison Ford is back for Indiana Jones 5. The 80-year-old legend presented the first trailer footage to fans at Disney D23 this morning where the star became visibly emotional.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy took to the stage with Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold for a movie that is yet to have an official title announced ahead of its release next summer.

The filmmaker told the audience: “I’m among a Mount Rushmore of creative greats whilst making this movie.” It wasn’t long before Ford himself and co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge arrived and the first footage was shown.

This is when the 80-year-old was seen “in tears” and made an announcement many felt was coming.

An emotional Ford said: “These films are about adventure, but they’re also about heart.”

He then confirmed that Indiana Jones 5 would be his last movie of the franchise, adding: “This is it! I will not fall down for you again!”

As for the trailer footage that was shown, Empire reported: “The Indiana Jones 5 trailer was incredibly action-packed. There was desert, there was sea, there looked to be flashbacks with a de-aged Harrison Ford. Adventure awaits! Everybody now: da da da dah, da da da…”

Indiana Jones 5 is set around 1969, but both set photos and now this footage confirmed that flashbacks will take place. Extras were spotted last year on the British set in World War II Nazi uniforms.

The 1940s are an era we’ve not seen in Indy’s life before, although we know he was a war hero who became a Colonel, so who knows what will be in store.

James Bond villain star Mads Mikkelsen co-stars in the movie as its baddie and he’s praised Ford’s performance.

Mads previously told The Hollywood Reporter: “It was the first time I met him, and he’s an insanely powerful person Not just as an actor, but physically. I remember the first day we were shooting, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5 a.m. — and then he got on his mountain bike and went biking for 50 kilometres. Harrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster.”

Indiana Jones 5 hits cinemas on June 30, 2023.
