Sally Nugent is best known for lighting up our screens in the mornings as a host on BBC Breakfast.

The sports presenter actually began her media career at BBC Radio Merseyside before moving onto North West Tonight.

Born and raised on the Wirral, Sally got her Communication Arts and French degree from the University of Huddersfield after attending Upton Hall School FCJ.

Though she tends to keep her personal life incredibly private, Sally regularly delights fans with stunning shots of her home on her social media pages.

From her luxury house to affair rumours, we delve into Sally’s life away from the cameras.

Stunning home

Sally’s home truly is a spectacle to behold.

Filled with cosy furnishings and cream decor, it’s a haven of tranquility in Sally’s hectic lifestyle.

Sally has shown off snapshots of her pad before – in one snap posted in February, she sat on the cream-carpeted stairs with a glass of bubbly in hand to celebrate the Royal Television Society Awards.

Behind her, a set of family photographs were visible, along with various elegant vases, while the staircase banister was strewn with white fairy lights.

Sally has also displayed her bedroom in the past.

As she posed for a mirror selfie in a stunning pink pantsuit, a set of beige curtains could be seen drawn behind her, with a tall set of cream drawers in one corner.

Sitting atop a plush cream carpet, the very edge of Sally’s bed looked to be visible in the pic.

And, judging by another pic, Sally’s home looks to be rather expansive, too.

While preparing for last year’s Big Bike In event, Sally had an exercise bike set up in one of the rooms of her house and showed it off on social media.

With polished wooden floors and matching doors, the snap showed off the huge gym room and the hallway outside.

The room even featured a gorgeous black and silver chandelier dangling from the ceiling.

Adorable pooch

Sally regularly shares snaps of her adorable dog Sadie, who is a key part of her family.

The sweet cavapoo – that’s a mix of a Cavalier King Charles and a toy poodle – looks like she gets pampered on the reg, as Sally treated her last year to a very special new collar.

She was celebrating rugby union icon Doddie Weir’s birthday by purchasing a matching collar and lead from his Motor Neurone Disease charity.

"Happy birthday Doddie Weir," Sally wrote alongside an adorable snap of Sadie wearing her new blue-and-yellow attire. "To celebrate Doddie’s 50th I treated Sadie to a very smart @myname5doddie collar and lead. A change from her usual pink sparkly one!"

At the very start of the coronavirus lockdown last year, Sally posted another pic of her gorgeous dog as she gazed into Sally’s eyes.

"Letting our normal grooming standards slip a little #StayHome," Sally captioned the photo – but Sadie definitely looked perfect regardless!

Affair rumours

Sally’s co-host Dan Walker was forced to hit out at online trolls in March last year after they suggested he and Sally might be having an affair.

Dan was pulling no punches on Twitter after one user claimed the pair were embroiled in an affair, rudely writing: "Is @mrdanwalker bending one in that bird from the @BBCBreakfast show?"

It didn’t take long for Dan to respond, branding the troll "pathetic" for his crude comment.

"'That bird’ is my friend @sallynugent and she is happily married," Dan clapped back.

"What a pathetic thing to tweet. I hope you treat that young girl in your twitter banner photo with a bit more respect."

Dan went on to assert that he’d reported the troll to Twitter staff, and ended his curt post with: "Have a nice day."

But Dan wasn’t finished with the user there, as the troll had paid a tribute to TV presenter Caroline Flack after her tragic death in February 2020.

The troll had written: "Hearing the news about Caroline Flack makes you realise you never know what’s going on in someone’s mind… always be nice to people. #TreatPeopleHowYouWantToBeTreated RIP @carolineflack1."

Dan was quick to point out the hypocrisy in the troll’s words, as he quickly responded: "You might also want to read through your own timeline."

Family life

Despite the cruel rumour perpetuated by the Twitter troll, Sally clearly doesn’t let the haters affect her family life.

Though she keeps a tight lid on her personal life and has never revealed her husband’s identity, she is married and the two share a son together.

Sally dished that her husband had treated her to a stunning vintage ring after the birth of her son.

The "blue for a boy" vintage aquamarine ring hailed from an antique jewellers in Richmond, London, and is Sally’s favourite piece of jewellery.

But Sally got her engagement ring – and a few other pieces of jewellery – from a friend who runs a jewellers.

She told The Express: "I buy all my pieces from a friend, who runs a family jewellers called David M Robinson.

"Everything from my 21st birthday present from my parents and my Rolex watch to my engagement ring are from there."

Sally also seemed to have a close relationship with her nan, who taught her how to knit.

"When I was nine years old, my nan taught me how to knit. I made my own rainbow tank top out of scraps of her spare mohair wool," she explained.

"It’s hideous but I thought it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen and must have worn it every day for a year. I still have it in my loft!" Sally confessed.

And it was her parents who influenced her love of sport.

Both her dad and brothers all played rugby, and her mum was a tennis coach, so it’s no surprise she turned to sports presenting.
