Inside Martine McCutcheon's 'second wedding' as she renews vows with husband Jack | The Sun

MARTINE McCutcheon celebrated her 10th anniversary with husband Jack McManus as they renewed their vows.

The actress, 46, and singer-songwriter Jack, 38, invited just one guest to the ceremony at Beaverbrook Hotel in Surrey – their seven-year-old son Rafferty.

The couple – who tied the knot in a stunning ceremony on Lake Como, Italy back in 2012 – opted for a more intimate affair to renew their vows.

“It was probably the most relaxed but wonderful thing we’ve ever done,” Martine told OK! magazine.

“It was in the most beautiful setting and it was the right combination of casual and elegance.

"The key thing for us was that it was a true celebration of our love, our relationship and our endurance as husband and wife and parents."

The former EastEnders actress explained that the ceremony was "purely" for the family of three to enjoy.

“It was important for us that it was intimate, because a lot of our celebrations have been shared with loved ones and friends," she continued.

"Don’t get me wrong, we’ve loved doing that, but this time it was just purely for us.”

The happy couple revealed that they had music playing in the background – with some tunes picked out by Rafferty.

The father and dad duo wore classic black tuxedos, while Martine looked sensational in a boho-style lace dress by Australian label Bronx and Banco and beautiful silver strappy heels by Aquazzura.

She told the publication that she did her own hair and make-up, showing off her natural beauty with flawless makeup and styling her tresses in loose waves.

The couple celebrated into the evening, with special touches including white roses, while Moon River from the film Breakfast At Tiffany’s and She by Elvis Costello played during the ceremony.

The pair shared sentimental vows – with Jack choosing a few lyrics from She as well as lyrics from Something by The Beatles, which "reminds him of Martine's smile".

While Martine spoke from the heart and opened up about their journey so far, saying their "roots as a couple just become deeper and stronger" and they have "weathered the storms together".

The couple then enjoyed a candlelit dinner at Garden House on the hotel grounds – complete with glasses of bubbly and a delicious meal, surrounded by flowers and candles.

Martine recently revealed that their wedding in 2012 was not plain sailing and involved a run-in with the Mafia.

Speaking on The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show, Martine and Jack told how the Mafia demanded they pay up for hosting their ceremony there, but they refused – leading to a very tense situation.

“We’re going to renew our vows! I thought it would be lovely because obviously we didn’t have Rafferty before, so it would be cute. I feel sad he wasn’t at our wedding," Martine said.

“I’ve never been to a vow renewal but I just thought it would be really lovely to do. We thought we’d go somewhere really lovely in France, it’ll probably just be me, Jack and Rafferty and maybe a couple of friends… oh god, mum’s going to find out now!”

Jack continued: “It would be nice to do something chilled. Our wedding was lovely, I wouldn’t change it for the world but it was quite full on. We had these marvellous wedding planners who were great.

“We were like, ‘We’d love fireworks’ and they were like, ‘Yeah, you need to make a donation to the lake’. It’s a donation, like to the mafia. We had to pay them so many hidden costs. It was like, ‘So, you want to have boats in this part of the lake? Ok, you have to make a donation”. This wasn’t hundreds, it was thousands.

“The very last one and complete p*** take was on the day, they found out that we were going to put these pictures in a magazine, so they said, ‘You’re going to need to make a donation to the lake’. We just said no.”

Martine added: “I went, ‘Oh my god, there’s going to be a dead horse’s head in our bed!’. I was petrified. I was like, ‘Don’t stand your ground now, Jack please be quiet’. But he wouldn’t make another donation.”

Jack was adamant though, and revealed: “I was like, ‘No’. I wasn’t so bold as I am now. They sort of let us off because we didn’t have to pay a donation for the magazine. It was all very scary and tense.”

It comes after Martine showed off her slimmer figure on social media.

Martine – who played Tiffany on EastEnders – has previously spoken about her weight loss journey as she struggles with a number of hidden issues, including Lyme disease, chronic ME and fibromyalgia.
