ITV I’m A Celeb’s Nigel Farage covered in gunge – after saying he would be exempt from some trials

Nigel Farage is seen covered in slime in his very first I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Bushtucker Trial after being dropped in the very heart of the sizzling Australian outback.

The former politician, 59, is entering the jungle for the ITV flagship show on Sunday night, alongside Jamie Lynn Spears, Danielle Harold, Marvin Humes and a number of other stars.

When the show kicks off tonight, he will be joined by This Morning host Josie Gibson and YouTuber Nella Rose in the Outback when the stars learn their help is needed by their fellow celebrities, who are 2,000 miles away on the Gold Coast.

Their mission is to win time for their fellow campmates who are taking part in other challenges on the coast.

The trio will face various challenges in the Outback to help their campmates in their bid to win stars and ultimately food.

It comes after Nigel said that he will likely be exempt from some of the trials.

Ahead of his entry, Nigel said that he was already preparing to do a huge number of Bushtucker Trials, as he explained: "Given millions hate me, I do expect people will vote for me to do trials!"

However, he shared that he will likely be exempt from some of the trials, due to injuries he sustained in a 2010 plane crash.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "Well, anything involving weightlifting, I'd be out because I've obviously had some quite serious physical injuries and neck reconstructions and goodness knows what else.

"So they are fully aware that I'm a little bit damaged when it comes to bodily structure. But having said that, I can still do most things."

And discussing the trials, he joked: "I doubt that any of the trials are actually going to kill me, although I don't think they'll all be a bag of fun. But hey look, I signed up for this. It's in for a penny in for a pound. So let's go."

Nigel was involved in a plane crash while campaigning during the 2010 general election.

After taking to the skies to fly a "Vote for your country – Vote Ukip" banner over Northamptonshire, the banner became tangled in the aircraft's tail fin.

The two-seater aircraft then nosedived to the ground, with Nigel, and the pilot, being rushed to hospital.

The crash left him with a punctured lung, two chipped vertebrae, a fractured sternum, and several fractured ribs. He later opened up about the crash in his memoir, revealing that the first thing he did after exiting the crash was to smoke a cigarette.

Nigel, who is thought to be the highest-paid campmate ever, with a deal worth a whopping £1.5 million, has proved rather controversial with viewers.

Ahead of the show's launch, a number of viewers have threatened to boycott the show over his presence.
