ITV This Morning viewers baffled as they mistake new host for Holly Willoughby

This Morning viewers were left confused after mistaking former host Holly Willoughby with her ‘stunt-double’ replacement Mollie King.

Fans of the daytime ITV show admitted they were left performing ‘double takes’ because of how much the former The Saturdays singer, 36, looked like her predecessor Holly, 42.

Mollie hosted This Morning on Tuesday alongside Dermot O'Leary while his usual co-star Alison Hammond stepped back from presenting to appear in a Christmas pantomime – and she stood in once again on Wednesday alongside Andi Peters.

But her uncanny resemblance with Holly – who quit This Morning in October after 14 years  – did not go unnoticed by fans.

One wrote on X/Twitter: “Just got home from work, turned on #ThisMorning and had a do a double take because I thought Holly was back.”

Another added: “Congratulations on This Morning #ITV for finding Holly’s doppelgänger.”

A third said: “Molly king looks a bit too much like Holly today.” A fourth viewer joked: “Wonder if Holly is going to phone up and thank Mollie for being a great stunt double.”

This Morning has seen a number of guest presenters take over on the show following the departure of Holly and Phillip Schofield – who stepped down in May after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague.

Alison Hammond, Dermot O'Leary, Josie Gibson, Rochelle Humes and Craig Doyle, Cat Deeley, Emma Willis, Rylan Clark and Ben Shephard have all hosted the programme in recent weeks.

It has been Mollie’s turn this week and she was welcomed into the studio on Tuesday with a hug from Dermot, who said: “It's nice to see you, how are you?”

Mollie – who is engaged to England cricketer and BBC Sports Personality of the Year nominee Stuart Broad – responded: “I'm good, how are you?”

Dermot asked how long it had been since she had last been on This Morning and Mollie replied: “I think it was about 18 months ago, so a bit nervous but you're going to steer this ship aren't you?”

Meanwhile, TV presenter Lisa Snowdon and Loose Women's Christine Lampard are lined up to host This Morning in the coming days. ITV bosses are currently trying to find permanent replacements for Phil and Holly.

Holly announced her departure from the show in October in a post to Instagram, as she wrote: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.”

“To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much.

“This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.

“Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.

“Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day.

“Richard and Judy said ‘we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’. It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.

“Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.

“I will miss you all so much. Holly.”
