ITV's new reality series Our Shirley Valentine Summer is dubbed 'Love Island for grown-ups'

ITV launched its all-new reality series Our Shirley Valentine Summer tonight (July 19), bringing together eight well-known women on the Greek island of Naxos as they set out to transform their lives over the course of a month.

Melinda Messenger, Sian Lloyd, Nancy Dell’Olio, Aggie MacKenzie, Ninia Benjamin, Lizzie Cundy, Annabel Giles and Ingrid Tarrant are the celebrities escaping to a Greek island for the summer, and all of them harbour a passion to try something new or pursue long-held dreams.

Over the course of the first episode, English TV personality Lizzie Cundy reveals that she’s desperate to find love again while Ingrid Tarrant shares that she hasn’t had a lasting relationship since the breakdown of her marriage to Who Wants to be a Millionaire? host Chris Tarrant.

Annabel Giles adds that she’s reached a bit of a crossroads in her life, and she’s looking forward to her next adventure, while former How Clean is Your House? presenter Aggie MacKenzie is excited to start the next chapter of her life.

One thing all the women have in common is that they’re single, and it’s that fact that had many viewers calling ITV’s new series Love Island for grown-ups – and enjoying it very much:

Over the episode, all of the women were open about their reasons for doing the show, with Annabel opening up about feeling lonely as an empty nester and Nancy Dell’Olio sharing that she feels something is missing in her life.

And, all in all, viewers were mostly looking forward to seeing what the ladies’ holiday in Greece will bring for them:

Our Shirley Valentine Summer continues on ITV.
