Cruising with Jane McDonald: Presenter recommends river cruising

Jane McDonald is bearing all as part of her new Channel 5 travel show titled Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan.

The British Soap Awards host explores the bustling streets of Tokyo and Osaka and basks in the majesty of Mount Fuji in the series.

The 60-year-old even bathed fully nude to experience Mount Fuji – the active volcano 100 kilometres southwest of Tokyo.

She shared: “They want me to experience it as a novice, so that’s entirely what I do and I love the fact that they say, ‘Right this is what we’re doing today.'”

“So I got my kit off,” she laughed. “The poor cameraman I did feel for him.”

“In our culture, everything is covered, but if you go to a bath in Japan you have to take everything off – that was a bit of a shock!”

Jane has been travelling the world and experiencing as much as possible after her partner Eddie Rother died in 2021 following a battle with lung cancer.

She added: “I thought to myself I am never going to look this good again, I’m the youngest I’m ever going to be and tomorrow I’ll be a day older!”

“Every day is a bonus and we’ve got to remember that, every day that we are here is a bonus,” the Loose Women star stressed.

“While I can do things I’m going to do them because there will be a time when I can’t. If I’ve learnt anything over the last ten years, it’s do it while you can.

“That’s my advice to everyone, most people say, ‘Oh we’ll wait to do this together or wait for that,’ just do it while we can.”

The singer said Japan has been on her bucket list for a long time and she was “glad” to finally see the country.

Jane got to spend a month in Japan and it is one of the many incredible destinations she has ticked off in recent years.

As part of her other Channel 5 programmes, Jane visited Florida, and an array of islands in the Caribbean.

She’s also made shows on her beloved home county of Yorkshire as well as chilly Alaska.

Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan premieres on Channel 5 on Friday, August 25 at 9pm.
