Wednesday got off to a record-breaking debut on Netflix last month in no small part thanks to Jenna Ortega’s menacing and gripping portrayal of the Addams Family favourite. Of course, Ortega wasn’t the only star who’s become a hit with Wednesday fans following the series premiere with Luis Guzmán and Catherina Zeta-Jones also impressing in the role of Wednesday’s parents Gomez and Morticia, respectively.
With a wealth of acting experience behind the stars, Ortega couldn’t have wished for better actors to bounce off of during the unorthodox parents and child scenes.
And ahead of Wednesday’s premiere, Ortega opened up about working opposite Zeta-Jones and Guzmán and was full of praise for the Chicago star.
“Catherine Zeta-Jones is incredible,” Ortega told Netflix. “I felt so lucky to work with her, honestly. She’s so cool. She’s so normal.
“And someone with a resumé like hers, and a talent like hers, I was a bit nervous. She’s a big name.”
Ortega’s praise didn’t stop there as she continued: “A lot of people admire her, and I admire her.
“Getting to know her was so cool because she just goes with the flow. She’s easy. She’s very, very professional.
“And I was very, very impressed by her. I would love to work with her again.”
Turning her attention to Guzmán, Ortega had a similar tribute to the man behind her on-screen father.
“Luis is so sweet, unbelievably sweet,” Ortega revealed. “He makes it a point to stay in contact.
“He is always trying to lighten the mood on set. He tries to make it more of a fun environment.
“And on a show like Wednesday, where you’re filming five or six days a week it was really nice to have somebody who was trying to make light of the situation.
“The crew worked really hard on this, and he interacted with everyone, and I really, really appreciate that about him.”

Morticia and Gomez only popped up in a handful of Wednesday season one episodes but their impact was certainly enough to endear them to fans.
Whether the pair will reunite with Ortega in a second season remains to be seen as Netflix is still yet to give another run the green light.
However, all the signs are positive for another season of Wednesday given it smashed a long-standing Netflix record after it premiered.
Ortega and co were binge-watched for a record 341.23 million hours during its opening week.
This trumped the previous record for an English-speaking series set by Stranger Things season four.
The Millie Bobby Brown-led thriller racked up 335 million hours streamed previously.
However, Wednesday was unable to topple South Korean drama Squid Game off the top of the overall records after it amassed a jaw-dropping 571.8 million hours.
Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix now.
