John Lydon says late wife 'died happy'
Punk legend John Lydon, AKA Johnny Rotten, explained that it was a “relief” for his late wife Nora Forster to be “put out of her misery” when she died in April.
The 67-year-old had been open about Nora’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease following her diagnosis in 2018.
On Tuesday, he appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to talk about life after Nora.
He told hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls: “I think right up to the last day, that was obviously tragically different for her.
“She found it very difficult breathing but she died happy, she knew I loved her and that’s all that really mattered.”

“I was saying to Susanna before, my mum’s had dementia for almost 20 years now,” Ed explained.
“And she’s happy and she’s healthy, she doesn’t really communicate anymore.
“But the truth is for me as a son, the grieving happens over a long period of time while she’s still alive because you lose the person that she once was. Was it like that for you?”
“Well, it seems a bizarre thing to say but it’s almost a relief that she was put out of her misery, it’s as simple as that,” John replied.

The Sex Pistols star married Nora in 1979 and spoke openly after her diagnosis.
He recently revealed that he sleeps with his late’s ashes every night.
Admitting that some people might find it somewhat disconcerting he explained his reasoning.
“Her spirit is in me, and it always will be. Some people might be horrified but she was cremated, and I sleep with her ashes next to the bed,” he shared.
“I find it gives me incredible comfort. It’s really, really lovely,” he said in an interview with The New Cue.
John announced her death on his Twitter account where he posted a sweet picture of the two of them.
The statement said: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Nora Forster – John Lydon’s wife of nearly 5 decades – has passed away.
“Nora had been living with Alzheimer’s for several years. In which time John had become her full time carer.
“Please respect John’s grief and allow him space. Rest in Peace Nora. Heart felt condolences to John from Rambo and all at PiL Official.”
