Jonnie Irwin details new treatment he ‘looks forward to’ in terminal cancer battle

A Place in the Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin has provided an update on his journey with terminal cancer as he started a new form of treatment.

The 49 year old first shared that he had terminal lung cancer in November 2022, but had initially been diagnosed in 2020. The star now shares regular updates with his followers on social media and, in his most recent post, shared he is now using a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

Since going public with his diagnosis, the cancer has spread to Jonnie's brain, with the presenter undergoing a myriad of treatments over the course of the last few years.

According to Cleveland Clinic: “Hyperbaric oxygen therapy provides you with air that contains 100% oxygen. A pressurized chamber delivers oxygen that’s two to three times higher than normal air pressure, which helps your lungs gather and absorb more oxygen. Oxygen helps the tissues in your body heal and withstand infections.”

Jonnie appeared to be over the moon about the new therapy as he shared a few images from inside the chamber.

Captioning the snaps, the TV presenter penned: “I can’t tell you how happy I am with the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber lent to me by @o2worx .

"It’s great for people with my condition but also for recovery from injuries and general wellness. I’m not gonna preach but if you’re interested Google it- you’ll be surprised!”

Jonnie continued: “This chamber is perfect for me, no feelings of claustrophobia and it’s just big enough to get my favourite comfy chair in it! I actually look forward to each session knowing that’s it’s doing me good whilst being able to do a bit of work (watching Netflix shhh!) I’m currently in it now! #hbot #hyperbaricoxygentherapy #netflix”.

Fans flooded the stars comments with many noting how well Jonnie was looking. On fan wrote: “I've noticed that you are looking good in recent posts Jonnie. Keep it up X”, while another said: “I’ve noticed a definite difference in you lately you actually look so well xx”.

A third added: “It seems to be helping. You're looking better than you have been”, while another added: “ @jonnieirwintv looking well and glad the chamber is working for you!”

This isn't the first time Jonnie has received a dose of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, though. In February this year, he revealed he'd been regularly having the cutting edge treatment.Since then, he's opted for a few more sessions to help him treat his cancer.
