Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) ups the ante in EastEnders later this week, amid her cunning plan to acquire Peggy’s, as she tries to get Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) to discreetly sign the wine bar over to her.
The popular character, as viewers know, is on a mission to prove herself, demonstrating that – despite what everyone thinks – she is a Mitchell.
Kat, however, believes that Sam is her ally, after she jumped in front of a speeding bullet to save her life during the siege last week.
But little does she know that Sam orchestrated the whole thing, having staged the break-in in order to play the hero and win Kat’s respect.
It wasn’t just Kat’s respect that she won, however, as Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) quickly worked out that Sam had set the siege in motion, and admitted that she was impressed.
With both sharing a common goal in wanting to destroy the Mitchell clan, the duo joined forces, with Shirley reiterating that she wants a chunky cut of whatever it is that Sam gets her hands on.
Sam, as fans are aware, desperately wants nightclub Peggy’s all to herself, and thus she’s gone out of her way to try and trick Kat into signing it over, making her believe that gangster Jonah is after the club.
Kat, you see, believes that Jonah has been terrorising her for weeks, when in reality, Sam has been behind the whole operation.
Earlier this week, Sam insisted that Kat sign the club over to ‘Jonah’ for her own safety. Kat, however, refused, revealing that she’s not backing down from this fight.
Despite Kat’s insistence, Sam perseveres, and Thursday’s (July 7) edition of the BBC One soap sees her attempt to get Kat to sign the papers once more, manipulating her into thinking that it’s best for her family.
Will Kat see through Sam’s deception?
That remains to be seen. The matriarch, however, will soon have other things on her mind, given that Phil (Steve McFadden) was attacked in his cell.
With the hard-man appearing to be dead, will she perhaps sign the papers in order to get out of a life of crime once and for all?
EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday July 7 at 7:30pm on BBC One, stream the episode on BBC iPlayer right now.
