Kate and Rio Ferdinand had 'heated' rows over her pregnancy that ended in tears as she thought he 'didn't care' | The Sun

KATE and Rio Ferdinand had "heated" rows about her pregnancy that ended in tears, it has been revealed.

The emotional confession came just minutes after the former Towie star confirmed the sex of their second child.

She made the "exciting" announcement they will welcome a baby girl on her Blended podcast – and in the same episode opened up on the complications that have come with expanding their brood.

Kate, 31, married Rio, 44, in 2019 and the pair already share young son Cree, two.

The TV star is also step-mum to Rio's three children Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia, 11.

His three eldest are from his previous marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who tragically lost a short battle with cancer in 2015.

Kate opened up on the issues behind their seemingly-ideal home life on her podcast and told of her fears that Rio – because of having four kids already – wasn't excited about her maternity journey.

Rio addressed the situation as he told the podcast: "Because I've had three kids before and we've had Cree together she still gets the hump – you [Kate] find it hard to believe that I can be as happy because it's number five.

"We've had heated (arguments) – there were tears."

He then asked: "Does everyone else's missus when they have a baby or when they're pregnant – just the hormones are always, they go too? You've been much better than last time."

Kate added: "When I was pregnant with Cree I was a bit cuckoo and I was so excited – I felt like you just did not care.

"When there was no bump there, was no baby in your eyes for at least three to four months.

"Then I just started getting really emotional thinking, 'He doesn't care, it's his fourth child'. You said you cared, I thought you didn't. We had a moment like this again the other night."

Rio, attempting to address the context of his feelings, said: "I had to give you an example.

"Like when I signed for Man United, obviously the biggest day in my life at the time, my mum was there, and Sir Alex Ferguson said to my mum, 'Is he alright? Is he happy?'

'She was like, 'No, no, he's fine, he just wants to get it done and dusted'. That's just him.

"He [Sir Alex] couldn't understand I wasn't doing cartwheels round his office.

"I find it hard – I don't show my emotions. I wouldn't have been any other way from the first one, Lorenz, to the latest one.

"I wanted a little girl for you and Tia because I think that little triangle, when I see that, it will break me."
