Tony Adams and Katya Jones found themselves at the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard this weekend after the former footballer made a series of mistakes on the dance floor. The pairing were then sported in a tense moment later on in the show which former Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls commented on during Monday’s Good Morning Britain.
At the end of Saturday’s live show, Katya could be seen in a tense exchange with Tony.
On Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Susanna Reid asked Ed Balls his thoughts on the moment.
The former politician appeared on Strictly in 2016 with Katya.
He said: “I think that was Katya doing Katya-style coaching, which in my experience, can be brutal.

“Oh really?” Susanna asked and Ed replied: “She’s really tough, look she’s a world champion.”
“They’re all sweetness and light right at the end,” Susanna quipped.
“That’s because she turned to the camera and started to smile,” Ed said.
“Before that, she’d be saying, ‘What are you doing? What are you doing? Tony! Focus!’”
Ed went onto reflect on his own “brutal” moments with Katya during his time on the show.
“There was one moment when were practising the Jive, she was so brutal to me I had to go and stand in the kitchen for five minutes while Neil [Jones] said to her, ‘Katya, he’s only got so much bounce.’”
Susanna appeared to stick up for Katya and suggested Ed likely had “more bounce” to give.
The former politician condeeded that he probably did “have more” left in him.

Meanwhile, Katya broke her silence after Saturday’s live show following the news that the public had saved Tony.
On Instagram, she wrote: “THANK YOU for voting us through to week 8!!
“We are beyond grateful and we hope you can see how hard we are trying!
“So if you want to see us dance another week, we will keep doing so trying our best!”
“@tonyadamsofficial impresses me every day! I’m just loving every single day teaching him to dance, seeing his improvement and growth!” Katya continued.
“We are not here to play it safe, cause life really begins at the end of your comfort zone! Let’s gooooo.”
On Sunday it was revealed Tony and Katya will tackle the Jive next week.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday at 7pm. Good Morning Britain airs on ITV on weekdays at 6am.
