Loose Women star joins Eamonn Holmes on rival channel after toxic ITV row

Former Loose Women star Saira Khan has joined Eamonn Holmes on rival channel GB News following a “toxic” row with ITV bosses.

TV personality Saira, 53, is yet another ITV persona who has chosen to leave the channel to join right-leaning broadcaster GB News. She was a panelist on Loose Women between 2015 and 2020.

Taking to Instagram, Eamonn announced his excitement at being joined by one of his “best friends” on the morning show as he confirmed that Saira has signed up to co-host the GB Breakfast show.

Alongside a snap of the two posing together, Eamonn wrote: “Your Mon/Tues line up on GB Breakfast.

“Looking forward to hooking up with one of my best friends Saira Khan.

“We will be your presenting duo. Expect the unexpected 6 – 9.30 am," he added.

Saira later posted the same photo and wrote in the caption: "Be careful what you wish for!! I’ve always wanted to be a news anchor and now I’ve got the opportunity to work with award winning broadcaster and king of news @eamonnholmes on @gbnewsonline.

"I’m covering @isabelwebstertv for just two days, Monday, Tuesday, next week – I’m absolutely nervous and feeling abit sick just thinking about it – but doing things out of my comfort zone is good for me.

"@isabelwebstertv @eamonnholmes make it look so easy – seamless from one news item to the next, flawless transitions between autocue to ad-lib and from light to shade!

"I’ll either sink or swim – but at least I can say I had a go!"

Just a few months after Saira left Loose Women, she claimed that the reason she left was because the set had become "toxic" and while it’s a show “for women”, the former Apprentice star told The Mirror: “I don’t feel like it empowered me.”

She went on to explain that while her decision to quit the daytime favourite came from a “mixture of things” and insisted she’d just outgrown it, another reason was due to the “horrendous trolling” she and the rest of the stars received.

“You’re on there discussing a subject with your friends in a very innocent way, but the amount of trolling you get online is horrendous,” she explained at the time.

Eamonn joined the GB News a year ago after co-presenting episodes of This Morning alongside his wife, Ruth Langsford, for 15 years.

He recently reignited his feud with ITV after making savage comments during his show, admitting that there are certain people who are “dead” to him.
