TV presenter Charlene White has vented her frustrations after being mistaken for Loose Women colleague Brenda Edwards at a recent work event.

Charlene, 42, joined the ever-expanding Loose Women panel last year, and has quickly become a favourite amongst viewers.

The ITV News At Ten newsreader often acts as an anchor on the lunchtime show, appearing alongside the likes of Stacey Solomon, Judi Love and Linda Robson.

However, Charlene has now shared her upset after she attended a TV industry do this week, where she was mistaken for co-star Brenda five times.

Posting on Twitter, Charlene wrote: ‘I’m used to being mistaken for my other black @loosewomen ladies. We all are tbh. Some ppl are too lazy to work out black women don’t all look alike.

‘But I’ve spent today at a do with my LW fam where multiple times I was called Brenda. My response? “No, I’m the other black one”.’

She continued: ‘You have no idea how many black women in the public eye get mistaken for each other. It happens routinely.

‘Not just us, too many minority women & men on a daily basis. It upset me more than usual today, probably because it happened to a few of us at the Pride parade on Sat too.’

The newsreader has had a pioneering career spanning over two decades in the broadcasting industry.

This resulted in her being the first Black woman to present ITV News at 10, a position she took up in 2014.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV
