Loose Women panellists mark Halloween

Loose Women star Denise Welsh admitted that she claimed she would “never forgive” her son who asked to miss out on her wedding to her husband Lincoln Townley.

The panel discussed the dynamics of weddings and remarriage ceremonies, where she made a shocking confession about her son Matty Healy.

Matty is best known as the frontman of the four-time Brit Award winning pop rock group, The 1975.

Denise married Lincoln 10 years ago in 2013 and admitted that her whole day was ruined when Matty claimed he was going to miss out on the big day.

She explained: “Matty, my Matthew, he missed my wedding to Lincoln. I remember when he called me I was doing a play.

“And he said ‘Mum what would you say if I told you I can’t make your wedding?’ It was 10 years ago.

“And I said, ‘I would never forgive you,’ and he said, ‘even if I was supporting the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park?’.”

Despite the moment being a big one for Denise, her co-stars and the audience burst out laughing as Denise continued: “It hurt me, but I completely understood.

“It was a dilemma for both of us and it was hard. But I would have never of said ‘you got to,’ because the band was [on the rise].”

Denise went on to admit that now the family often make light of the fact that he missed an important day in her life, due to the fact it was a long-running joke of his childhood.

She added: “This is why it became a bit of a joke because years ago when they were just four teenagers making a lot of noise in the garage.

“I used to say ‘Get a job! Unless you are supporting the Rolling Stones get a job’.”

At the time of their wedding, Lincoln praised: “My most brilliant achievement was persuading Denise to marry me.

“I turned 40 last year and I have never met anyone like Denise, never been close to anyone like Denise, never loved anyone like I do Denise.”

Denise added: “This is about being together forever. There’s no one who can make me happier. This is my fairytale.

“It was like walking into one of those weddings in an American movie. Every time I’ve watched one of those I’ve thought I’d love to get married like that.

“I had no idea how beautiful it was going to be.”
