Loose Women’s Denise Welch makes candid admission about dying

Loose Women: Denise Welch says she ‘can’t keep up’ with technology

Denise Welch admitted she “can’t cope anymore” as she discussed technology and whether she’d want to live until she was 120.

The presenter’s admission came as the Loose Women panel discussed how scientists are set to be the first to help people live longer.

While Gloria Hunniford said she would take any pills or injections to help her have a longer life, Denise disagreed.

“I always say I’m glad that this is the century that I will pop my clogs,” Denise began.

“Mostly for me, obviously I want to live a long and healthy life that we all do, but it’s mostly about technology, I just can’t cope anymore.

“I honestly can’t cope and now they’re talking about AI and they can put words in our mouths, they can make us say things… I don’t understand anything and they’re to replace us as actors with robots.

“I don’t want to be a robot, I just think this is the time, you know, in however long, but of course I want to live but I think 120 is pushing it.”

Gloria on the other hand went on: “I want to live long and if there are pills or injections or anything that are well tried and tested, and I can live longer, it may not be 124, but I want to do that and I’ll tell you why.

“I do understand by the way that sometimes people are incapacitated and some people actually want to go on to leave this world.

“I understand that but I don’t, and even if I was just sitting in a bed or sitting in a chair.

“I want to live long because I want to see my grandchildren grow up, get married, and have children of their own.

“So, I want to live long for people…for my family and that’s why I want to do it.”

Earlier this week, Denise detailed how her son Matty Healy, who fronts The 1975, missed her wedding.

Denise married Lincoln Townley 10 years ago in 2013 and admitted that her whole day was ruined when Matty told her he was going to miss out on the wedding.

She explained: “Matty, my Matthew, he missed my wedding to Lincoln. I remember when he called me I was doing a play.

“And he said, ‘Mum what would you say if I told you I can’t make your wedding?’ It was 10 years ago.

“And I said, ‘I would never forgive you,’ and he said, ‘Even if I was supporting the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park?’.”

“It hurt me, but I completely understood,” she added.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
