Lorraine Kelly has supported a future political career for Meghan Markle by claiming the duchess "could make a real difference" in politics.

The ITV presenter praised the Duchess of Sussex during a chat with royal expert Russel Myers on Thursday's edition (June 30) of her daytime show.

It came after Meghan and Prince Harry have spoken out about the recent US abortion ruling which has rolled back abortion rights.

Last week, the US Supreme Court overturned the historic Roe Vs Wade ruling which had been in place for nearly 50 years and gave women constitutional rights for abortion.

Lorraine said: "Much happier news for Meghan, and this is where I think she really comes into her own. She's been talking to Vogue magazine. Her and Prince Harry have also been speaking about the abortion bans in many parts of the United States.

"This is where I really think she comes into her own, and it raises that whole speculation of whether she's going to go into politics."

Meghan has appeared on the cover of Vogue, where slammed the Supreme Court's abortion ruling – saying the decision tells Women they "don't matter."

Lorraine later said: "I don't think it's ludicrous at all. I think she's got things to say and she's got an astonishing platform and she could make a real difference."
