Love Island 2023 first look as Maya Jama takes on hosting duties from Laura Whitmore

During tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, viewers will see two eagerly anticipated Love Island teasers ahead of the upcoming 9th series in South Africa.

One of the teasers will feature new host Maya Jama, who can be seen in a tight and sparkling astro inspired jumpsuit which highlights her amazing figure.

Appearing from the dark, she perfectly captures the essence of the show as she confidently looks into the camera with her long dark hair flowing in the air.

As the official love motivator, Maya will be encouraging both this year's Islanders as well as the fans at home to go and grab love by the horns.

In the second teaser, a pink velvet bejewelled bucking bronco can be seen spinning around in a circle. On one of its sides, there's a sparkling love heart.

Maya was announced as the new host of Love Island earlier in October after rumours had been going around at who would replace Laura Whitmore, who announced she was stepping down from the hosting role after this summer's series of the show.

Laura said on Instagram in August that she had been finding it difficult to fly back and forth to South Africa to film the show as it was clashing with her other projects, which is why she chose to step down.

In October, Director of ITV Reality Programming and Acquisitions and Controller, Paul Mortimer said: “Finding a new host to follow the wonderful Laura Whitmore was never going to be easy. In Maya Jama though, we have another high profile fan of the show who’ll be a great addition to the Love Island family.

“Cool, charming and charismatic, I speak for us all when I say Maya will also bring a unique presenting style to the show, as did Laura and, of course, the very much missed Caroline Flack. We’re very pleased to have her on board.”

Many viewers had hoped Maya would be next in line to present the ITV2 show, and it seems Love Island bosses were listening all this time.

Lifted Entertainment Managing Director, Richard Cowles said: "There are very few people who could fill the role of Love Island host but Maya Jama has it all and we're very excited to welcome her to Love Island.

"Not only is she a fantastic presenter but she is a massive fan of the show. The cast and viewers alike will be thrilled to see her enter the Villa!”

Award-winning Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVX this January.
