Fans of Love Island have been left jumping for joy after they realised that the baby challenge has reportedly been scrapped and the mission task had made a comeback.

The infamous baby trial, which has been a part of the show since series one, would allow each of the couples to look after a toy baby for the day.

However, the tedious challenge appeared to grate on viewers as the toy dolls would often cry throughout the episode.

But fans were overjoyed when they realised that the baby scenes were replaced with an undercover assignment.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Getting rid of the baby challenge but bringing back the secret mission is exactly what I want."

Another said: "Wait wait . . have they skipped the baby challenge this year too??!?!! These producers need a bonus."

A third penned: "I'm glad they scrapped the babies challenge. Who wants to hear a bunch of babies scream for an hour straight? Not me!"

While a fourth said: "No baby challenge this year. Praise Gard!"

However, some were confused that the baby challenge was scrapped and shared opposing view on Twitter.

One viewer chimed: "Where are the babies this year? Would have been better than this silly challenge."

While another mentioned: "The producers scrapped the baby challenge this year because they know none of the couples are lasting so they won’t need a cute throwback memory when they do have kids in the future."

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the first time in ten series the baby challenge was not going ahead.

Talking about the iconic task, an insider reportedly told The Sun: "It's not happening this year – but the show has seen loads of new tasks and challenges that fans have loved."

The baby task has seen some of the best-loved moments of the show throughout the years.

Back in 2018, Islander Josh Denzel’s baby's arm fell off and in the following year Tommy Fury flipped his baby upside down while his partner Molly-Mae Hague shouted: "Tommy, what the f**k was that?"

Years later Molly and Tommy now have a baby of their own in real life.
