Love Island viewers saw history repeating itself as the villa erupted into a series of heated exchanges after Tom Clare was outed for kissing Ellie on the sly.

The 'secret' snog sparked chaos among the islanders when news reached Olivia Hawkins of the secret kiss after Ellie confided in Will about the intimate moment.

Will unwittingly failed to keep the secret by telling Jessie, Tanya and Shaq, with Tanya then telling Zara who in turn spilled the gossip to Olivia.

Tom then found himself getting into hot water all round as not only the girls but Shaq called him up on his shady behaviour.

Viewers of the show found themselves with a sense of Deja Vu over the situation as they drew comparisons to last years Love Island when Andrew Le Page was under fire for his fling with Coco Lodge behind Tasha Ghouri's back.

The similarity occurred when Tom was heard playing down what had happened saying: "It was just a kiss, it's not like I shagged her."

He was being called out on his behaviour by fellow islander Shaq Muhammad when he made the claim as he tried to rebuff criticism over how he was 'playing' the girls.

Tom said: "What you on about bro? It's only a kiss mate."

Shaq interrupted saying: "Don't say it's only a kiss. You can't say it's only a kiss."

Tom then replied: "It is bro."

Shaq continued: "You can't say it's only a kiss when you're telling all the boys that you see Ellie as just a friend. If you see Ellie and then you don't feel like that towards her…"

Tom interrupted: "I've given her enough."

Shaq quipped: "Do you know what sometimes you've just got to be clear Tom."

Tom appearing mildly interested in the exchange continued: "You haven't heard the full story bro, so don't come at me like that."

Shaq then explained further: "Full Story? At the end of the day, someone is going to get hurt. So if you say to her straight up 'listen, I know we kissed the other day but for me, I get more friends vibes from you,' yes she will be upset but at the end of the day she knows where she stands.

"If you carry on without saying it, giving her vibes and obviously you've got a situation with Liv and Samie's come in and you like her as well, it's not really fair bro, do you know what I mean?"

Tom responded: "Yeah but I'm not playing anyone bro. I don't want to upset anyone boys but I really don't think it's that deep. It's a kiss, I ain't shagged anyone."

One viewer wrote on Twitter: "Tom saying it’s okay because he hasn’t shagged anyone in the same way Andrew said he just licked a t*t or whatever."
