A Love Island source has revealed producers are "heavily involved" with the show and explained how they were once forced to step in after the lads weren't playing by the rules.
The islanders typically follow the same format every year, including daily debriefs in the morning and scheduled visits to the beach huts.
But there is plenty that goes on off screen which no one is told about.

Previous islanders have spoken about the infamous tannoy which is used by producers to communicate with them from outside the villa.
Explaining further, the source said: "The producers are very heavily involved in pretty much all of it. They spend majority of their time watching everything through the gallery and they talk to the islanders through the tannoy.
"For example they will call out an islanders name and say, 'Can you come to the beach hut and speak about this, or this person."
The source went on to reveal that there was a moment in a particular series when producers had no choice but to enter the villa after the boys all point blank refused to speak to a new bombshell.
They explained: "There are runners up there and they said there was a girl that went in as bombshell. In an ideal world, those lads spot that bombshell and run back into the bedroom saying, 'There's an islander out there, she's so fit'.
"This time, the boys went over to introduce themselves but no one wanted to chat to her because no one fancied her, so later, all the lads were sat on the terrace and they were just slating this girl."
The source continued: "So then the producers had to come up to the villa to speak to the lads and be like, 'Look, lads, you can't be talking like that. You've all got to go and make and effort with this girl.'
"So against their will, all of these lads had to go over and crack on with this girl but literally none of them fancied her. They were all slating her being like 'I'm not doing it, you're doing it.'
"Producers had to beg them to chat with her," they added.
