Love Island's Samira Mighty and Charlie Frederick already knew each other before the villa – here's how

Love Island is in its second week already, and the latest news from the villa is that Samira Mighty and new contestant Charlie Frederick already knew each other.

After Charlie entered the residence during last night’s episode (June 10), it was revealed that he and Samira had previously met on a dating app.

“I recognise you,” she said, as he answered: “I was waiting for that.”

Later in the Beach Hut, Samira explained: “So I know Charlie. I think we matched on a dating app.

“We texted, and then we just never met up and never spoke more. Yeah, it’s really strange seeing him in the flesh.”

Charlie was also asked about Samira – albeit very briefly – in a live link on Love Island: Aftersun. He said: “She slid in the DMs a couple of times… I mean, I think it was a double text and that was it.”

When Caroline Flack asked how the conversation ended, he also admitted he didn’t reply to – prompting Caroline to scold him with a chiding shout of “CHARLIE!” (She was only joking, though.)

And following the dramatic departure of Kendall Rae-Knight, Charlie and fellow new boy Josh Denzel were spotted casually relaxing by the pool during yesterday’s episode.

Georgia Steel enthused: “Literally all the girls were stood on the terrace. And we saw fresh blood. We were all so excited.

“I was like, ‘Who are they, where have they come from, how did they get here?’ So basically, Josh I would say is my type, 100%. They’re very good looking boys, so let’s give it to them.”

Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2.
